week 2

1)      A blog is more open to being edited and it differs from a print source in the way that it can be accessable at all times.

2)      Hourihan feels that the blogs are a revolution because they are accessible and able to be seen by anyone that wants to see them.

3)      Keeping the blog for the class will be advantageous because it give the writer an opportunity to see how there writing has progressed from week to week.

4)      Blogs are everywhere and most of them are not published in many situations and being published doesn’t necessarily mean that theydid better than the blogger did.

week 3

Sherman Alexi wrote about how exactly he learned to read in his type of situation, in “Superman and Me.” When he starts the story he says that he was always around books and that one of the main reasons that he wanted to learn how to read was because of the fact that his dad loved it. He started by reading some of the books but he wasn’t able to understand it at first then he found a Superman comic book and as he was looking at it, he correlated the pictures with words that he knew and assumed that’s what the writing had in it. Literacy in the life of Alexi was crucial to him, because he didn’t want to end up like another statistic. He also wanted to make it so that it would encourage all of the other people on the reservation that he was on to read more, and also try harder to succeed in the goals that they set for themselves and never to give up on them.

 In my life I found that I never really enjoyed reading and in some ways it has hindered me in some of the classes that I have taken in the past, but in comparison to Alexi literacy wasn’t something that I had strived for. When thinking about which of the narratives that I related to the most it was probably Alexi’s because he taught himself through pictures and that was one of the ways that I was able to comprehend the stories a little better if I didn’t understand what exactly I was reading.

week one

                The use of writing in my field would be more for getting the product more well-known and advertised about what the product could do and how it would help the consumer in the end. Being able to express what I want to say in an organized fashion not only would make the product look good but it could also in turn make it easier to sell for a profit instead of it just being a major time waste and all the hours of work being useless. The writing skills that I would need to improve on would be to add more detailed descriptions of whatever I’m writing about.
